Important Jewelled Letter Clip, Property of Coco Chanel
France

A rare, iconic jewelled objet formerly property of Mlle. Coco Chanel. Created and given to her by one of her longtime colleagues, Monsieur Robert Goossens, her jeweler, who created many of her signature personal jewels as well as production for her boutiques.
It is rendered in the Renaissance styled Chanel taste, of gilt bronze and hand formed “mosaics” in emerald and ruby pate de verre on both the front and back. The spring clip is strong and solid.
A touching hand engraved inscription on the reverse reads “Mademoiselle Chanel, Tous mes meilleurs voeux, Goossens, (Mademoiselle Chanel, With all my best wishes, Goossens)” which shows his admiration, love and respect for her. Evidently this item had been return to his workshop for repair, during which time Coco Chanel passed.
